James A. Bland
Mr. Bland joined HCP in 2005 from The University of Chicago Booth School of Business. Prior to business school, he worked in various management positions at HSBC, N.A., including helping to build the bank’s strategy and operations in targeting the U.S. Hispanic market. Before HSBC, Mr. Bland worked as a business consultant for Capgemini (formerly Ernst & Young Strategic Advisory Services) where he advised Fortune 500 clients in post-merger integration, cost improvement plans and growth strategy engagements. In addition, he worked in an operating role at a Madison Dearborn Partners and Columbia Ventures portfolio company (@Link Networks). Mr. Bland also served eight years as a Field Artillery Captain in the U.S. Army and the U.S. Army Reserves.
Mr. Bland earned a BS in engineering and political science from the United States Military Academy at West Point, where he currently serves as an advisor to the Board of Directors of the Association of Graduates, and an MBA in Finance from Chicago Booth, where he was a Robert A. Toigo fellow and where he received the Dean’s Award of Distinction. He also currently serves as a Commissioner on the Community Development Commission (CDC) in Chicago and is an officer for the Chicago Private Equity Network (CPEN).
